Peanut is starting the move towards using sentences. Yesterday she stood mournfully at the window and said "Daddy home me *sigh* soon". Yep, he was late coming home from work, and she missed him.
Then after her bath she scampered downstairs and found me eating ice cream. I shared a bit with her and she joyfully exclaimed "Ice cream me YUM".

A pretty good year
We're in 2008 and it seems like 2007 flew by. It's nice to sit back and reflect on all the blessings of the past year. A huge highlight for me was becoming a stay at home mom. We had prayed for this from the time Peanut was born, because there was no way we could swing it on just hubby's income. God once again blew our minds with His greatness... Gregg got a huge raise JUST as I had to start back to work. Wow! The specific amount and timing really drove it home - this was God reassuring us that we would be cared for and that staying home was the right thing.
Another big highlight of the year was becoming pregnant with our second girl. There are so many people who experience infertility and my heart breaks for them. We are so excited to be able to have another.
It was wonderful to wrap up the year with a trip to my grandparents. Peanut was a little trooper, spending all that time in the car and meeting many new people. We got to see my grandparents' new house, my cousin Marc's girlfriend (is a wedding in the air?) and my cousin Jay whom I had missed seeing for years.
We did miss Erin and Kirk alot, but are pleased and proud that they have awesome jobs in their new location.
Now it's just time to sit, scrapbook the Christmas memories and wait for Buttercup to arrive. Patience is a virtue... a virtue I don't have. Hurry up kiddo!

The very last first
Well, it's been a while (long while) since I've blogged, and it'll be a while til I do again...
Our second little girl is due in February and I'm trying to enjoy having one child as much as I can. Peanut is growing by leaps and bounds, occasionally talking in full sentences now. For example, she said to my mom "My come see you". She knows her animals and animal sounds, and she's really really good at helping me. I'm hoping this comes in handy later. : )
Even though I'm trying to treasure spending every moment with her, when we're up to 3am sick, it's kinda difficult. Last night was pretty trying, but we got through it by the grace of God. I just kept singing "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength". Amen.
Meanwhile, we prep Peanut for the arrival of little Buttercup daily. We talk about babies and we've even bought her her own baby doll Emma. Emma has a bottle, food, stroller, car seat and bassinet. Time will tell if her love for Emma translates into a love for Buttercup too.

Super genius
Peanut is amazing! Yesterday I went to get her following her morning nap and she was Jumping in her crib! Yes, jumping! Her feet were leaving the floor! She was so excited that for the rest of the day if she heard the word 'jump', she'd take off!
And as if that wasn't enough, she did a sommersault too! Not just once, but twice! She put her wieght on her head and very gently and purposefully rolled onto her back. Wow!

All I behold is mine
Yep, she's found another new and fun word: Mine!
As in, My Bunny, My Dada, Mine, My Doose (Juice), My Baaah (Bob the Builder), and My Buhbuh (Bottle).
Of course there's no My Mama though. *sigh*

The Days of No
We knew these days were coming and I know it's an important part of Peanut's development, but gosh... "No" can get annoying.
She pronounces it "MO!!!", with a wail and a slight temble of total disagreement.

The kid can talk!
It's taken us a bit to catch on to her pronunciation of consonants, but now that we get it - man does Peanut talk a lot!
She says:
"Hey big guy!" (talking to my Dad on the phone)
"talk in here" (pointing to the wrong end of the phone)
"I love Dad!" (plastered against the front door waiting for Dad)
"apple sauce" (when asked what she'd like for breakfast)
I can't believe how often she must have been frustrated talking to us and having us reply with a generic answer like "that's true" or "how funny". Yeesh, good thing she still loves us.
